2012 ~ Year in Review ~ Photos, Videos, & Reflections.

2012 ~ Year in Review ~ Photos, Videos, & Reflections.
So I’m back safe and sound from my little break, and I had an absolute blast, I was so great to ring in the new year with old friends in a city as beautiful as Edinburgh. I would also like you wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR, and I hope that you all had a wonderful NYE celebration, and are having a good start to 2013! I absolutely love reading “Year in Review” posts on other people’s blogs, and I thought that since I have had alot of new readers on my blog this year (yay!) that some of you might be interested in a synopsis of the past 12 months, they have been pretty exciting! So, here are my highlights of 2012:

1: Working at London Fashion Week for Pretty Polly: I was lucky enough to be sent over to London Fashion Week twice this year to cover the House of Holland show for Pretty Polly . I have been  working as their Ambassador for over a year now, and out of all the fun projects we’ve done together, this has been the biggest adventure! I attended the A/W’12 show in February, and the S/S’13 show again in September, to cover them for the Pretty Polly website. Before this, I had no real experience in interviewing or tv presenting, but these LFW trips threw me headfirst into the exciting, fast-paced world of Broadcast Journalism. My first ever interviews were Pixie Geldof and Henry Holland (who were both lovely) and It was then that I officially caught the presenting bug, and decided that this was what I  wanted needed to be doing. πŸ™‚

2: Presenting for Diet Coke Tv. Shortly after returning from LFW in February, the lovely people at Diet Coke Tv asked me to be one of their presenters. To say I was excited about this was an understatement ~ I was OVER THE MOON! Getting to work with an huge brand like Diet Coke was such an amazing opportunity, and over the past year we have filmed at several big events such as the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, and International Design Collective Awards at the Volvo Ocean Race. I absolutely loved every minute of working with them, and I cant wait to see what we get up to in 2013!

 3: Working With GAFTV:
Over the summer I worked with the Galway Arts Festival on their GAFTV channel. I really enjoyed my work with them as it gave me a chance to work behind the camera, instead of in front of it. It was so interesting getting the chance to learn more about how filming, production, editing, and how the whole creative process works. I also go to meet some wonderful people, and got to see some amazing gigs, such as Chic playing at the BigTop! I even got to meet the ICONIC Neil Rodgers afterwards with all my sisters and my Mum ~ It was an amazing experience!

4: Covering the Electric Picnic Music Festival for Alpro: At the end of the summer, I was sent to Electric Picnic to cover the festival for Alpro, the Soy Product brand.  Being sent to the best festival in Ireland to interview bands, blog, and just have fun in general, well it seemed like I should be paying them, and not the other way round! I had a fantastic time, and the Alpro Team were all lovely, and so much fun to work with. I interviewed some great Irish bands like Nanu Nanu, Kid Karate and LeGalaxie, I saw some amazing acts, I hung out with my friends, and I had an absolute blast! I couldn’t think of a better way to end a fantastic Summer.
5: Press Coverage in 2012: I was lucky enough to be featured in some lovely press features in 2012, such as Alexis Magazine (Singapore), Stellar Magazine (twice!), U Magazine, The Connaught Tribune, City Tribune, Xpose Magazine, and probably my biggest feature to date: the “People you should know about” piece in the Sunday Independent! (read the online version here) I also featured on quite a few popular websites and some National Radio interviews! You can see the complete list on my “In the Press” page here. Getting featured in such amazing publications is really exciting and flattering, and It always encourages me to work harder and keep doing what I’m doing.

6: Speaking at the GTI “Style Blog” Launch: In December I was asked to guest-speak at an event for GTI, Galway’s fashion college, and to “MC” the event itself. I gave a talk on Fashion-Blogging, (read my 10 “Golden Rules” here) and my experiences so far in the Fashion and  Media Industry. I really enjoyed giving the talk, and Mc’ing events is always great experience, although it can be slightly nerve-wrecking at times! But what made this night one of my highlights of the year was getting to talk to all the students afterwards. I honestly had no idea that so many young Galway people followed my blog, and hearing such encouraging words and and messages of support from so many of you was extremely flattering, and a little overwhelming! Receiving so much warmth and positivity  from my readers has encouraged me and motivated me to make 2013 WildChild Stories’ best year yet!

Thank you:
Finally, I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone of you who reads and supports WildChild Stories. I know I would not be where I am now without everyone of you who reads, comments, likes and follows my adventures and silly ramblings. I read and reply to every comment, and email, because your responses and opinions mean the world to me, and I love hearing from and engaging with all you amazing people! If you ever have anything you’d like to ask me, please don’t hesitate to contact me here. I cant believe that a year has already gone by since I last wrote one of these posts, 2011 was a very exciting year for me too, and I am beginning to think that if I continue to work hard and stay true to myself, that 2013 could be just as adventure-filled! Here is a quote from last years post that I think sums up my attitude quite well for the year ahead:
Overall, 2011 was a year that I will never forget. It defied my expectations, my wildest dreams even. I am so happy and grateful to all the good that has come my way, and although I’ll always remain the same girl I once was, I have a newfound confidence and appetite for life, and all it has to offer. This year I have learned that life’s opportunities are limitless, and in order to make the best out of it, you have to put yourself out there. Sometimes things work out, and sometimes they don’t, but without trying, you’ll never know.
Looking ahead at 2012, I can barely contain my excitement. This past year has been one where amazing things have happened to me, but this year will be the year that I make amazing things happen. I plan to work my butt off, stay focused, and above all enjoy myself, because otherwise, what’s the point?
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2013, lets make it the best one yet!
Peace,
WildChild,
xx
