5 easy fashion tips for your next holiday

5 easy fashion tips for your next holiday

So I’m back from my short trip to Istria with the Croatian tourism board, and sitting here at my desk with the rain pouring down outside and yep, the withdrawals are definitely starting to kick in, haha!

After any trip away I like to do a little round-up of the outfits I wore here on the blog, and with the holiday season just kicking off, I’ve also included five easy fashion tips you can use for your next holiday!

1: Dare to bare

Holidays are the perfect time to have fun with fashion, so why not take a step outside your comfort zone and wear something a little more daring in the evening time. This wrap front shirt maxi dress was the perfect way to make a statement at dinner time, and it was loose fitting at the waist and stomach, perfect for hiding that post-dinner food baby! Just don’t forget to pack dress-tape or petal-covers if you think you’ll need them, no one likes their entrés with a side of nipple!

Dress: Missguided (also available in white) | Platform Espadrilles: Ego Footwear

2: Keep it comfortable in the daytime

When it comes to holiday dressing, the most important thing to remember is comfort. Imagine spending a day in a foreign country, most likely much hotter than you’re used to, and wearing a too-tight pair of shorts, or sandals that pinch when you walk? Nightmare. Opt for light, loose pieces that will keep you cool and protect your skin from the harsh sun, like this white chambray longline shirt, which was an absolute lifesaver for me in the Croatian heat. These Nike Benassi pool slides were unbelievably comfortable to walk around in also, I’m actually so glad I got them in white, too. Ditch the uncomfortable sandals and opt for a pair of comfy slides instead, they’re bang on-trend, and your feet will thank me later.

Shirt: River Island | Shorts: vintage Levi’s (similar here) | Pool slides: here (I also have them in white) | Mini Backpack: River Island

3: Focus on your separates

If you’re limited on space, a simple tip is to focus on packing versatile separates that you can easily mix and match with the other pieces you’ve brought. It will make your life so much easier, and it will also offer you that bit more freedom with your outfit choices, in case you change you mind about a particular outfit you’ve planned, and want to switch things up last minute. This denim 70’s skirt is such a staple summer piece, I could have worn it in so many different ways during the trip.

Bardot top: River Island | Denim skirt: River Island | Shoes: Converse

4: Nail your beach-to-bar look

When it comes to your holiday itinerary, sometimes there’s just no time to go home and change after your trip to the beach, so getting clever with your outfits is essential. Keep your bikini on and make it a fashion statement by pairing it with a deep-v top, and you’re ready for cocktails at the bar! This top is actually a satin wrap playsuit, but I thought it worked perfectly tucked into a skirt with that little pop of yellow, what do you think?

5: Go all-white

Another fun way to do holiday fashion is to try an all-white look. It’s something we rarely do at home, but it looks absolutely beautiful with a tan, and it will certainly get you into the holiday mood. This white textured lace-up mini skirt fits the bill perfectly, and I even went for white pool slides to complete the all white look. Just beware of those wine spills, and make sure you’ve got the right underwear on!

Shop the look:

Playsuit (worn as shirt) : Missguided (also available in tan) | Skirt: River Island | Pool slides: here | Bikini top: Triangl

Indulging in fashion is actually an investment. It helps to strengthen the economy and makes a way for the economic strata to elevate to a higher notch.
