‘Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.’
– Lauren Hutton
Wintertime is always the season when my inner “vintage vixen” emerges. There’s something about the cold weather and added layers that makes me opt for classic silhouettes, and accessories with a retro twist. One of my favourite textures to break out once the cold snap hits is the my trusty faux fur pieces, they really can’t be beaten in terms of warmth! For those of you who don’t want to wear a faux-fur coat or jacket, then why not inject some fuzziness into your accessories? Cossack (Russian) hats are the height of winter elegance, they’ll keep your noggin cosy and leave you’ll feel like Ana Karenina. I also love a good stole during the winter, they are perfect for layering over any jacket, coat or blazer, and again, they are super-toasty! This faux fur one from ASOS deliciously decadent, and it adds a dose of glamour to just about any outfit.
Faux-fur not your thing? No worries! You can still add a vintage flare your look with a dainty lace collar, or a good pair of leather gloves. I personally think that gloves are a winter accessory that a lot of ladies put on the long finger (seewhatIdidthere) due to the rise in the on-the-go gal’s touchscreen usage (I’m guilty!) but they are still vital for keeping our digits warm when we’re out and about. I have red leather pair that I bought at least 5 years ago, and they come out every winter without fail.
I’ve compiled a list of my favourite vintage-inspired accessories in the handy widget below, just scroll over the images for more information, or click on the images to be taken directly to the website. Oh and If you haven’t checked out my first AW Accessories Edit feature, you can find it here.
Hoping you’ve all had a great start to the week!
