Let’s talk about the cape. For such a simple piece, a cape earns you infinite chic points, and they’re also big news for this season too. I picked up a tan one on Romwe last year and dug it out again this season, it’s such a simple and elegant piece! I loved it so much that I ordered it in black too, and I cannot wait for it to arrive! There’s something so sophisticated about a well-fitted black cape, worn over an all-black ensemble, so mysterious! I’ve also been lusting after this divine tartan one from ASOS, it’s a great investment for someone who wants to spend a little bit more on a great piece.
I’ve been a bit cheeky and included the blanket-coat in this particular edit feature also, seen as they create the same silhouette, and are a similarly big outerwear story for AW. I think we’ve all been drooling over the amazing burberry monogrammed blanket coat spotted on Olivia Palermo recently, but thankfully you can find some gorgeous styles online for a fraction of the price. I really like this tan style from ASOS, which is also reversible, so you can get even more wear out of it! I would wear my blanket cape pinned with a cute vintage brooch, for that lovely personal touch. (Unfortunately we can’t all have our capes monogrammed like Olivia!) Good quality brooches are hard to find on the highstreet, but you can pick up one in almost any vintage shop, you might even get lucky and find one nestled away in a charity shop or flea market, so keep your eyes peeled!
As per usual, I have scoured the interwebs in search of my top picks to nail this trend, and below you’ll find all my favourites in a handy little widget, for you to browse and shop with ease. I hope you enjoyed this AW Coat Edit, and stay tuned for the next edition, coming very soon! If you missed my first feature all about the leopard print coat, be sure to check it out here.
Hope you’re all having a great weekend,
