I am so incredibly happy to show you guys my brand new website design! You may have noticed things have been a bit quiet on my blog and social pages for the past 10 days or so, and thats because I have been working on this. Feel free to have a nose around (be sure to check out my new About page) and I’d love to know what you think of it!

Redesign:

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll probably know that I like to change my website design up every 6 months or so. You might think I’m crazy to do this, but I like to challenge myself, and see what I can come up with. Hiring a web designer is extremely expensive (you’d easily pay €1,500 for a simple website design) so I did all of this myself (logo, the layout, the fonts, etc) using a wordpress theme and fiddling around with it as much as I could.

I am actually rather proud of what I managed to get done, mostly because my html-coding and photoshop skills are weak at best (I’m self-taught) but it really is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. I did however get someone to fix a few bits of code here and there that were beyond my skills, but 99.9% of what your looking at now I did myself. There was lots of coffee, some long hours, and more than a few “WTF” moments involved, and I even crashed my website at one point (NOT fun)! If you are interested in knowing more about how I re-designed my website/blog, then let me know and I will do a separate blog post about it.

Shooting with Alex:

I shot these photos last week with my friend Alex. They will be used for all my public profiles, so I wanted to get them just right. Alex is my absolute favourite photographer to work with, he always captures the exact energy and attitude I want to convey. Plus, we have so much fun shooting together! If you ever need professional/headshot photos done (especially if you want to show your personality) then I cannot recommend him enough. You can find him here.

Work Lately:

I have been working freelance now for about 6 months (see here for more info on what exactly I do) and I feel like I am only now starting to find my feet. The past few months in particular have been so hectic and I’m learning so much, but I consider myself very lucky to have so many opportunities come my way. This new website and logo is a re-branding of sorts, to do with a series of new projects I am working on, so stay tuned for more info on those.

Future Plans:

After my mini-break I am back to blogging with renewed energy. I promised you that this year I would focus on more career/industry related blog posts, and that is just what I intend to continue doing. This little corner of the internet is mine to conduct, and I have finally decided what I want my core message to be: I want to help.

I don’t want to be the blogger that looks like she has the perfect life, and has everything figured out. I have zero interest in being envied by my followers, on my blog or on social media. I would rather a girl that people can relate to, if nothing else.

I want to keep sharing my stories, (successes and failures) and in doing so, inspire readers to share theirs with me. I want to help other bloggers, budding stylists, even would-be presenters with my blog, even if its just by sharing a lesson or two I’ve learned along the way.

Blogging has changed SO much since I started as WildChild Stories over 4 years ago, and my life has changed along with it. So I feel like more than ever, I need to check in with you guys, and make sure that you know this. I care about my readers, and I’m here to help. If there is ever anything you want to ask me, you can do so here.

I have some new ventures coming up over the next few months, which Im pretty excited (albeit terrified!) about, and I will be to taking my blog along with me, to share the journey with you all.

And finally, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for sticking around for this long! I appreciate your support more than you know.

Big Love,

Hey Ciara, great job on the new website and challenging yourself! I was just wondering (as a free lance presenter) how on earth do you pay to get by day by day? I myself worked for a gap year just to save up to pay for myself to go to counties and get by. How do you survive?

      Hi Emily,
Thanks for the lovely words! The past 6 months have been a challenge, certainly, but I’m lucky that I always have the blog to help keep me going, as well as having a few consistent clients for freelance styling/presenting work. Some of those jobs don’t get blogged about as they’re corporate and unrelated to fashion, so I don’t share them here. It can be a struggle sometimes! I hope that helps anwser your question. x

Hi Michelle, Thanks so much for the kind words! Best of luck with the shop opening, thats very exciting! Unfortunately I have never opened a shop so I probably wouldnt be the best person to ask, but I would recommend taking a close look at what similar online shops are doing (both here and abroad) and see what works for them. Also be sure to engage with your audience (connecting with your customers on social media) and teaming up with some good bloggers is always a great help. Just make sure they match your stores aesthetic and vibe so it will be a good fit. Hope this helps! x
