Delphi Adventure Resort & Spa Review

Delphi Adventure Resort & Spa Review

As most of you know already, I spent last weekend at Delphi Adventure Resort and Spa, in co. Galway. Myself and my boyfriend Yoseph were celebrating our five year anniversary, and we decided to do something special for the occasion, and rather than spending money on presents for each other, we both agreed that it would be MUCH more fun to go on a little adventure together!

Overall I am delighted to say that we both had the most amazing weekend at Delphi Mountain Resort, and I really cannot recommend it enough. The resort itself is located in the heart of the breathtaking Delphi Valley, near Leenane, Co. Galway. It’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains and valleys.

We booked one of the resort’s double rooms at their standard rate, which was SO reasonable, and that included a gorgeous breakfast in the mornings, which consisted of a self service continental breakfast buffet (think homemade pastries, juices, and other tasty nibbles) as well as a menu to order from. Breakfast is undoubtedly my favourite meal of the day so I love stocking up on good food for the day ahead. As well as a full range of outdoor activities and adventure pursuits, Delphi has a full Spa, complete with a Thermal suite and relaxation area, which we definitely spent plenty time in during our stay! It was so nice to spend some time in there relaxing and soaking up the views, which were really special. One of the highly recommend treatments in Delphie is the Seaweed bath, a 40 minute soak in a tub filled with locally harvested (and cleaned) seaweed. It’s meant to be fantastic for your skin, so of course I wanted to try it out. It was extremely relaxing and I loved every minute, and my skin did feel great afterwards.

As well as indulging in some relaxation, we also went on some of the scenic walking routes around the resort, so we could really soak up the beautiful surroundings. We also took part in one of their adventure activities called the Go Zip n’ Trek, which is basically an obstacle course that you complete half a kilometre above ground in the forest! You’re secured to ziplines the whole time so you’re totally safe, but It was still a real challenge, and pretty scary at times, which made it so much fun!

In the evenings we chilled out and ate in the Connemara View Bar and Grill and the Wild Atlantic Restaurant, my favourite being the restaurant, which had the most delicious menu of locally caught seafood. Their prawns were HEAVEN. You can see the outfits I wore for both evenings below, I got a great reception after I posted snaps of them online, thank you all for the lovely comments!

Overall our experience in Delphi resort was pretty perfect, and I am finding it difficult to think of any real cons to our stay. For the sake of a complete review, my only cons would be the fact that the music in the lounge and restaurant areas is a little dated, (90’s country-pop mostly) and that the condiments for all our meals came in single serving packets, and as someone who LOVES her ketchup, I hate having to tear open packet after packet. Those are literally the only two things I can think of, which is a testament to what a great time we had overall. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and we were really taken care of during out stay. Oh and in case anyone is wondering, the wi-fi was great! A bit weaker in the rooms, but overall surprisingly strong considering the remote location. Phone reception isn’t amazing though, but sure when you’ve got wifi, who cares!?

So if anyone is looking for an escape to the wilderness, filled with relaxation, and just enough adventure, then Delphi’s your spot! If you are looking to make the trip, then my tips are to make sure to bring comfy, outdoorsy clothes (for the activities) and also being plenty of cash with you, as there is no atm or cash-back service in the area, so although you can use your cards of course, you cant take out any cash, which could leave you in a pickle if you don’t plan ahead.

If anyone decides to go then do let me know as I’d love to hear about your experience, and of course if anyone has any particular questions about anything that I haven’t covered, then be sure to get in touch!
