Internship Diary #2

Internship Diary #2
Firstly, thank you all for the wonderful response and encouraging words after my last internship diary post, it’s great to see that you guys love them so much! My second week of interning with Fashion One Tv was hectic to say the least, but I’ve been having so much fun that I don’t mind it one bit. Here’s whats been going on.
Primark A/W ’13 Collection Preview & Press Event

Last Tuesday I went along to the collection preview and European press event for Primark, which we obviously know as Penneys. Primark is one of my favourite brands as not only are they super-affordable, but they are always so on-trend, and quick to pick up on the latest fashions. So as you can imagine I was super-excited, and eager to see what an event like this would have in-store for us.
I was so impressed by the event. There were European press (grazia, glamour, et all ) in attendance, as well as some big European bloggers who were flown over specially for the event.
The collection preview was held in The Chocolate Factory, which boasted the perfect high-walled, spacious surroundings to show off the A/W collections.
We were treated to any amount of amazing food, there were freshly made salads in miniature pots, mini-burgers, sandwiches, and all sorts of sweet treats including meringues, and this delicious sweet powered-bread, which I had never tried before and instantly fell in love with! There was also a Photo-Booth to play with, along with a box of dress-up sunglasses, mini-hats and other fun things to mess around with. Needless to say myself and all the other irish girls present definitely had a lot of fun in the photo booth, I came home with so many hilarious photos!
Now on to the collection! I was completely and utterly blown away by what Penneys have in store for us next season! They have always been great, but this time they have really upped the ante, and brought out some amazing pieces, while still maintaining their amazingly affordable price-tag.The different collections consisted of “Highland Grunge”, with its tartan and check pieces, to “The Graceful Story” with its beautiful ladylike coats and skirts. “Gothic Glamour” was full of decadent, lace pieces perfect for the party season, and “Cyber Jungle” boasted some beautiful tailored pieces and lush fabrics.
There are so many pieces from the A/W collection that I have my eye on, and I filmed a “top picks” section for the Fashion One piece, so once that’s published I’ll get to show you all some of my favourite pieces in more detail! The filming went really well, and I have to say that I am loving every minute of it, and I’m getting more comfortable and confident in front of the camera each time.
You can see a full outfit post (what I wore) to this event here.

River Island A/W Press Event
Next up was the River Island press event which was on the following Tuesday, and was held in the brand’s press office on Grafton Street. River Island are one of my favourite highstreet brands and I always love attending their press events, not only because the clothes are always so amazing, but also the press officers are the nicest people, and an absolute hoot to hang out with.
I went along with my blogger buddy Leanne, and we were treated to delicious cartoon cookies, and some amazing asian food, and a nice strong cup of tea for good measure!
As per usual, River Island have an whopper collection in store for us next season, which is categorised into 7 different trends. My favourite had to be the ‘Mash Up’ trend, which was totally eclectic and 90’s inspired, they have a twin set that reminds me so much of the movie Clueless! I also loved the “Bauhaus” trend which was more modern, with streamlined, tailored pieces, and some really interesting neoprene or “scuba” fabrics. Its safe to say that they will be as strong as ever next season, and I have a few pieces on my wish list already. Special mention has to be given to their shoes and accessories also, which they continually nail season after season, with the freshest heels, boots, hats and bags.
I didn’t do any filming at the River Island press day on Tuesday, as we are going to choose a less busy time to film the collection, and I will be doing another “top picks” feature on my favourite pieces, so i’ll be able to take a few more snaps and get a closer look at the collection when we come back to film in a few days time, but for now, I just had to show you all what they have in store for us!
myself and Nuala taking selfies as usual // some amazing metallic brogues // the beautiful Mash Up collection // some of the shoes and accessories for A/W13

So thats all from my second instalment of internship diaries, I hope you guys enjoyed it! Be sure to stay tuned for the next edition, as I have a lot more events and filming projects planned with Fashion One over the next few weeks, and I can’t wait to share them with you all!

Peace,
