If you follow me on Instagram or snapchat (both CiaraODoherty) you’ll know I was at a friend’s wedding in Kildare yesterday, and it was such a beautiful day! I am now trying to get a day’s work done alongside a morbid hangover, but I wanted to put together a quick post on wedding guest dresses, seen as I got such a lovely response from you all about my outfit yesterday. Choosing the right wedding outfit can often be a tricky task, and as someone who LOVES rocking a trouser suit or a pair of wide leg trousers to any formal occasion, I like to opt for a traditional dress at a wedding, and I usually use it as an excuse to do something a little more girly and romantic than I usually would. Blow I’ve broken down 5 Wedding Guest Dress styles that always work, just in case you’re stuck for a little inspiration this wedding season….

FotorCertertereated

1: The wrap dress

The wrap style dress is my favourite option for a wedding for one very simple reason. The draping. This classic style of dress is not only flattering on all figures, but it will also drape nicely over your stomach, which comes in especially handy after the meal. Realistically, you’re going to be in your dress all day (and well into the night) so make sure to choose something that is comfortable and not too restrictive. This is why the wrap dress is a no brainer for me.

2: The cami strap

The cami or spaghetti strap dress is a particular popular trend right now, and I think they looks so delicate and feminine, especially in a solid, block colour. This might be a style more suited to smaller-boobed women, unless you have a good strapless bra on hand that you’ve already road-tested.

3: The bardot style

Another hugely popular dress trend, the bardot style is particularly gorgeous for a summer wedding, it’s sweet and flirty and is a great alternative to a cleavage bearing outfit. Wear with your hair swept up and a pair of oversized earrings for maximum effect.

4: The floral print

Probably the most traditional wedding dress style, the floral print just screams summertime, and it’s gives an effortless, floaty vibe. I don’t usually wear much print but I did want to try out something printed for this occasion, and the this ASOS Gold Rose Strappy Drape Cami Dress was just perfect, and so comfortable, too!

5: The maxi dress

The maxi dress will always be a wedding guest style-staple, and they can also be a comfortable option if you choose a loose fabric. If you’re self conscious about your legs they are a fantastic alternative to a shorter or midi style.  The optimum length is to have the hem to be slightly skimming the floor when in your shoes, just make sure not to trip!

Metallic Heels:

When it comes to footwear, I’ve really been into metallic heels, and the Rose gold tone double strap heels I picked up from River Island recently have been getting lots of wear. I think a metallic heel would go with any of the above dresses, except maybe some of the louder printed ones, so why not try it for your next wedding? Just make sure to pick a pair you find comfortable, as you’ll be out dancing in them all night!

Happy Shopping,

Love,

WHAT ? NO comments yet ??? it’s an outrage, no a travesty, no a shame, …a sad…thingamagig. I had seen/read it minutes after it’s…birth, but i didn’t want to be the first one to comment. Well now, I must declare the obvious-by-now: it deserves commenting ! …C’mon ! it’s a comprehensive and detailed guide to your next wedding reception ( as a guest yeah). Forget L.Roe, switch to Ciara O Doherty ! She doesn’t JUST celebrate her own style, she goes through with you step-by-step giving intelligence on YOUR options ! well, you general reader might think, ‘what’s he goin on about ? am here arren i ? ‘ …alright alright, let’s just calm down. let’s just rejoice. i suppose, at this time, that i could share my own opinion on the matter, as per usual usage of this space. If i hadn’t seen here our dear guide Ciara wearing the cami strap in that pattern and cut (hey i didn’t even Know it was called cami strap), i would have off hand recommended a floral wrap number. Now, it’s 50/50 that and hers. Hey wait ! what about a cami-strap-wrap ! oh wonders do yet gleam.

Floral print guest dresses seem like a nice compliment to a summer wedding. Maxi dresses provide classic comfort as well.

When it comes to bridesmaid dresses, the spaghetti strap bridesmaid dress is always be a popular choice because the style suits all types of weddings. Providing a similar look to that of a bare shoulder, a spaghetti strap dress is a great choice for a bridesmaid who wants to show her shoulders.
