Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re all having a lovely relaxing weekend so far, I can’t believe it’s nearly over already. Today’s post is something a little bit different, as you can probably tell. Yesterday I made the trip out to Wicklow to trek around Glendalough lake, and it was such a blast. We hiked for almost five hours, up the 600 steps to the beautiful look out point, and on through the monastic site to see the beautiful valley from the ground level.

It was such a beautiful way to spend a sunny Saturday, and although it was very tiring (at times I wasn’t sure if I could do it!) the views at the top made it worth the sweat. I honestly don’t think the photos do it justice, seeing all those views in person was something else. I also have a little announcement which I’ve been dying to share with you guys for some time, and now it’s time to share it!

The reason I went on this trekk, is because in September, I will be travelling all the way to Peru for ten days to trekk Machu Picchu in aid of the Irish Cancer Society!

I’f you guys have been following this blog for a while you’ll know that I have never done anything like this before. It’s farther than I’ve ever travelled for one, not to mention the fact that I wouldn’t consider myself a particularly fit person, so this will definitely be a challenge. I am going on this trek with my friend Kelly, who I met through some charity work we were both involved in last year, you can read a bit more about it here. Kelly is currently the ambassador for the Irish Cancer Society this year, and back in January she convinced me to come on this journey with her. She’s a bit of adventurer like myself, so we make a great team.

We have to raise quite a bit of money to go on this trek, and we have some really exciting plans in the works for how we are going to do it. I can’t announce anything just yet, but stay tuned for some big news in the coming weeks! Also, from now until we depart in September, myself and Kelly will be going on as many treks around Ireland as possible, to get ready for the 10 day trek to Machu Picchu. I think it’s a great way to get outdoors, see the beauty of Ireland, and get some much needed exercise while I’m at it.

The Trekk4Life program that the Irish Cancer Society offers is open to anyone, so if you are interested in a going on once-in-a-lifetime adventure, while raising funds for a very worthy cause, then you can check it out here. As always, I will be doing my best to document this journey on my blog and social channels as best I can, as I love sharing these experiences with you guys.

If you have any recommendations for fun treks around Ireland, then please do let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
