I never thought that anything would trump my love of my beloved Levis denims, but this season, the humble chino has gone and usurped it from it’s blue-washed throne. I picked up a few pairs on the (always amazing) Mango sale recently and from then on it’s been pure obsession. Fashionably-speaking, trousers and chinos are often cast aside as workwear, but don’t ignore this incredible wardrobe staple, they can look just as chic dressed down in a casual look as they can be smart in the office.
So here I am giving my best argument as to why you should ditch your jeans and try out a pair of trousers this Spring..
1: They’re SO comfortable.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my denims and I practicly live in my Levis Wedgie Fit (they’re the most flattering fit on your bum, trust) but we all know that denim isn’t the most comfortable fabric, especially when you’re opting for a tighter fit to further flatter said bum. Well worry not, the trouser is here to solve all your problems! When you go for the right fit and fabric, they’re so light and comfortable which is especially welcome when Summertime eventually rolls around and we get a WHOLE WEEK of warm weather. I prefer a high waisted fit with a wide leg and let me tell you, it is the most comfortable loosey-goosey feeling ever, I could nap in these bad boys.
2: Neutral trousers go with EVERYTHING.
My favourite shades to opt for are neutrals, as they go with absolutely everything in your wardrobe, and I mean EVERYTHING. Teeshirts, shirts, camis, jumpers, you name it. They quite literally look good with any style of top. Colour-wise, stick to tan, kakhi, cream, or navy if you’re a little cagey, and if you’re looking for something bolder, why not try a bright red or even a bold striped print (which will be endlessly leg lengthening to boot!)
3: They’re huge news for Spring Summer.
It’s no secret that chinos and trouser styles are a massive Spring Summer trend, but unlike many other trends that come and go, this is an easy one to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe. What’s more is that you can even wear them to the office also, so depending in your profession, they’re purchase you can get endless amounts of wear from. Styles to look our for this Spring are the paper-bag or tie-waist style (the higher waist the better, IMO,) the super wide-leg styles, the cropped flare fit and of course lilac and pastel hues.

4: They make every outfit look more “put-together.”
Given that they’re choc-full workwear vibes, it comes as no surprise that they instantly make any outfit look that bit more thought-out. So if you’re heading somewhere and you want to look casual but like you’ve still made a biiiit more effort than jeans, then hey-ho, chinos to the rescue!
5: There are some incredible styles on the highstreet right now.
This is one trend that I can see sticking around in my wardobe, which is why I have justified picking up a few different pairs to play around with. There are so many amazing styles available right now, most of the ones I’ve chosen here are under the €40/€50 mark too, happy days!
