Gingham Print is undoubtedly one of Summer’s biggest trends…
… but how do you wear it without looking like a tablecloth?
We’ve seen it splashed all over every magazine and high-street window, but like any print, it can be a tricky one to master. I for one have fallen completely in love with all things Gingham this summer, and have added numerous versions of this print to my wardrobe these past few weeks, including this dress (pictured) and this wrap top. This simple yet chic print is so perfect for updating your summer look, and I urge you to try it out for yourself!
Here are my top 5 tips to getting it right:
1: Start with a monochrome print
Gingham print comes in a variety of colours: baby-blue, yellow, pink, even classic cheesecloth-red. Each colour can look fabulous and summer-appropriate, but if you’re just starting out, sticking to black and white is a much safer option as it’s easier to style into your existing wardrobe.

2: Try a Gingham Shirt
One of the easiest ways to start out with this trend is to try out the basic Gingham top. Bardot, button-down or wrap styles work great, and choose one with ruffles for extra trend points. Team it with your favourite pair of jeans and a pair of strappy heels for the perfect “jeans-and-a-nice-top” outfit that works for just about any occasion!

3: Rock an all-over print
For those feeling a little braver, and all over gingham look is the perfect way to make a statement with the trend. Dresses, playsuits and jumpsuits are perfect for this, and feel free to throw a belt on top, to stop the print from being too overwhelming. Plus it cinches in your waist nicely, which is always welcome!

4: Make it office-appropriate
One of my favourite ways to work the gingham trend is with a crisp pair of trousers. It’s probably the smartest-looking style, and paired with a classic shirt or sweater is perfect for your 9-5 wardrobe. If post-work drinks are calling you, then throw on a cami-top and swap your flats for heels and you’re ready for anything. Similar to the classic houndstooth print, gingham trousers give that cute little nod the 50’s style which I love.

5: Opt for accessories:
If you’re entirely unsure about Gingham but still want to play with the trend, then accessories are your way to go. You don’t get much more summery than a pair of printed gingham heels, they’re great for adding a touch of personality to any wedding guest outfit.

I absolutely LOVE shrimp and grits! My favorite is to do them in butter and cajun seasoning, pan fry them, and then add excess butter/seasoning to the grits.
