One of my all-time favourite styling combinations for Autumn, this is a look I’ve been so excited to break out this September. With the weather still warm enough to bare those legs, this is the perfect look for staying comfortable and on-trend in the early autumn weeks.

Let’s break it down a little, shall we?

The floral midi dress:

I have a confession to make. I rarely wear florals in the summertime, and I much rather break them out in Autumn/Winter. There’s something about the look of a muted floral print paired with black accessories that feels both edgy and girly at once, and I just love it. To really nail this look, choose a print with a darker base (black, navy, brown) and opt for a midi style that cuts just below the knee. The weather is still warm enough for bare legs, so it lets you show off the last of that summer tan before the weather forces us to bundle up in tights and trousers for the winter. I chose this printed midi style from River Island which I’ve been getting so much wear out of, but there are many more styles to choose from:

The suede biker:

The easiest way to toughen up a floral dress is with a biker jacket, but choosing a suede style really adds that autumnal-fashion feel. Whether it’s faux or real suede you’re after, choose a style you love, and try to spend a little more where you can, as this will be a staple in your wardrobe all season long. For this look I chose this green suede biker by blank Denim, and I love how rich and deep the green the colour is, I’m obsessed!

The ankle boots:

Another way to add a bit of edginess to your floral dress is with a classic pair of ankle boots. Personally, I have a preference for the pointed-toe, cuban-heeled kind, and I always end up buying a new pair every Autumn, which then get worn to death all winter long. This year I chose the Finley Leather Booties from the new Kendal+Kylie collection, and I am SO impressed with the quality and comfort. I’ve spend all day stomping around in these boots and I promise you, they are a comfy ankle boot, no breaking in required.
