Now that the new season has well and truly landed, it’s time to start thinking about our new season wardrobes. Personaly, I like to avoid forking out hundreds for an entirely new wardrobe, by choosing a select few select pieces each season that will update my look. Over the next few weeks I’ll be putting together my usual AW-Edit posts, Online Bargain features and general shopping guides for the months ahead, to help you guys update your own wardrobes without costing the earth!
To start, clever accessories are a live-saver when it comes to updating your look, and my favourite has to be the stole. Stoles, tippets, faux-fur scarves, whatever you want to call them, they are effortlessly chic, and offer a surprising amount of warmth in the winter months. I like to think of them as a bit of a “wardrobe-hack” in that you can throw a nice stole over just about any outfit, and they will make it look more stylish and expensive.
When it comes to choosing your stole, I would recommend spending a little more if possible, and look for either Mongolian sheeps wool (super soft and looks expensive) or a good quality faux fur. This way, you can add it to any jacket or blazer you already own, and bingo, a fabulous winter look is born. When you choose a good stole, all the focus will be on it. You can even take it one step further by adding a brooch or pin for an extra dose of glamour, dahling!
Colour wise, I would aim to pick one in a neutral colour ( cream, brown, black, burgundy, or a mix of these) and if you are feeling sassy, also pick up one in a more statement colour or pattern. My favourites are this Lilac stripe style, this sassy number from Shrimps (bit more pricey) and this striped mongolian scarf, which hugely reduced right now!
