New Season SAINT LAURENT ‘Monogram Blogger’ crossbody bag
–
A special birthday purchase
As you may well have guessed from the title and photos, I made little birthday purchase for myself, and I am so in love! You may remember in my post last week I talked about deciding to buy myself some new computer equipment instead of an expensive handbag for my birthday this year. Well thankfully I had a some savings left over and I decided to put a little money into something I’ve wanted for a really long time, this gorgeous Saint Laurent ‘Monogram Blogger’ crossbody bag from their new AW16 range. It was aptly coined “the blogger bag” by the brand due to the huge trend of mini bags with bloggers around the world, and I must admit, I am guilty of this too. I LOVE a good micro bag, and I fell completely in love with this style as soon as I saw it all those months ago. It’s simple, chic, and surprisingly roomy, easily holding my iPhone 6, my Saint Laurent mini wallet, my YSL monogram card holder, with lots of room to spare. You also can’t overlook the incredible price of this bag either, because on the scale of Saint Laurent pricing, it roughly costs the same as one of their wallets.
Nabbing it on disount
I’ve never been one to impulse buy anything expensive, and I have been legitimately stalking this bag on the various luxury websites for the last 6 months now. You might not know this, but the prices of luxury items can vary quite a bit depending on which website you shop on, their various exchange rates, and also customs charges if you’re buying outside the EU.
Knowing I wanted to pick it up for my birthday, and I thought I had found the best price on one particular website, but before hitting purchase I decided to have one last look around. Couldn’t hurt, right? We all know the UK’s sterling has taken a hit in the past two weeks (but let’s avoid getting into that whole thing, shall we) so I decided to check if that had made any difference to things. Ever the opportunist, eh? Sure enough, on Farfetch I spotted my chosen bag was a whopping €200+ cheaper if I paid in sterling. I couldn’t believe it! The only catch with buying in sterling from websites is that you often need to have a UK address for them to send it to, and that, my friends, is where the good people at ParcelMotel come in. They offer a service that gives you a UK address for the item to ship to, and then once it arrives there it’s posted directly to your local collection point. The whole process is incredibly quick, easy, and costs about €5 per parcel.
Always shop around
So there you go. That’s how I managed to buy a new season designer bag that cost €750, for under €550, including shipping. I hope this teaches you guys that when it comes to investing your hard earner dollar into a luxury purchase, it seriously pays to shop around, and do a little homework. But hey, that’s what I’m here to help you all with. I’ll be featuring a few more posts on luxury purchases in the coming weeks, as I’ve been getting questions from you guys on choosing the right investment bag, where to shop, and how to save money where you can. Oh and just in case you were wondering, this post is not sponsored in any way, and the bag was not gifted. I just really wanted to share this incredible deal I found with you all.
It’s perfect! Such a great choice that you will always have. I particularly love the leather tassel x
It’s gorgeous!!!! I love getting a good deal! It makes me feel justified when I splurge on myself, especially if I was waffling on buying the item in the first place! π Also, happy birthday!! Hope it’s amazing!!
It’s gorgeous xx
Smart shopping….smart purchase ! it looks Great. Hey Happy Birthday to you ! or as they say over here, Bon Anniversaire !
Fab love it. I’m contemplating it in dusky pink at moment. Far fetch often have things that are sold out elsewhere too!
Really nice blog. Love the bag and article.
Just a note, by purchasing through euros on the site I secured a better conversion rate so its not necessary to purchase in sterling and not necessary to use parcel motel (I have found their lockers akward to access -also I don’t like that you need to top up by β¬10 each time).
When you think of Saint Laurent s aesthetic under the direction of Hedi Slimane, studs and leopard probably come to mind before sweet little mini florals, but that s exactly what the brand has in store for some of its Resort 2016 bags.
Hi, I’ve also just purchased this bag and was wondering what the best way to protect and look after it is? I’ve tried googling but am scared to use a spray or leather conditioner…
Itβs nice collection! There are all kinds of bags on sale at https://www.thehouseoftara.co.in/
