Getting my hair cut by the lovely Kate in SugarCubed on the day of the awards

I thought it would be nice to do a little feature on the blogger awards last week, Im sorry for the delay in posting this but it has been a busy week! I had such an amazing time at the awards, unfortunately I didn’t win the category I was nominated for (Best Fashion Blog) but getting to the final three out of so many amazing blogs was honour enough for me! A huge congratulations to all the winners on the night, many of them are friends, and I couldn’t be happier for them.

The night itself was pretty hectic, with the venue (37 Dawson Street) somehow ending up at double the capacity of people it should have held, which made it difficult to relax and catch up with fellow bloggers, which was what I wanted to do more than anything. Thankfully, I got to chat to so many of you lovely bloggers, meet some new faces, and even meet some fans of WildChild Stories, which is always such a surreal, amazing experience!

I received quite a few comments about my outfit on the night, and I have to say that I was delighted it went down well with everyone, as its not something I have ever worn before. In my opinion, events like these are just perfect for dressing up, and I really love taking risks with my outfits, especially when I know Im going to be surrounded by my fellow bloggers, who I know will appreciate something a bit out of the ordinary!

My cropped jumper is by the amazing Irish designer Colin Horgan, and I felt it was perfect for the awards, just the right amount of edgy, while still being a comfortable and relaxed fit. You can check out Colin’s facebook page and website to see more of his amazing designs, he has such a great eye for shape and form. A student of LSAD, (Limerick School of Art and Design) Colin is releasing his new collection in september, so I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated on that.

I also got my hair cut and coloured for the event, by the amazing crew at SugarCubed Dublin, and I cannot tell you guys enough how amazing they are. A younger, edgier sister of the famous Brown Sugar Hair Salon on South William Street, Sugar Cubed has just opened its doors on Clarendon Street (the next street over!) Firstly, the salon itself is fabulous, with an urban, grungy decor, which contrasts wonderfully with the state-of-the-art equipment they have, such as an extremely comfortable and uber-cool massage chair for hair-washing. Seriously, it was like something out of Star Trek. Amazing.

My colour was done by Mark, and whom I had the best chat with, he’s such a lovely guy, and advised me really well on which shades to choose in order to get the most out of my colour. After the that it was time for a cut, which was done by Kate, who was not only so friendly and lovely, but was also a fantastic hair stylist. She knew exactly what I wanted, which is always a tricky thing when going for a new style.

Its been exactly a week since my visit, and I am SO happy with my hair. the shorter ‘do feels so much more “me”, and and I can happily say that after being in Dublin for over two months, I have finally found my new hair crew, HURRAH! I strongly recommend popping into them the next time your looking for a cut or colour, you can check out their facebook and twitter for more information.

Peace,
WildChild,
xx
